I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE NBA PLAYERS UNION IS THINKING ! THE 50/50 SPLIT IS WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO SETTLE ON , WHETHER IT IS NOW OR LATER. HOWEVER, IF IT IS LATER THEY NEVER RECOVER THE $$$ THAT THE PLAYERS ARE LOSING EACH AND EVERY DAY....THEY HAVE NO OPTION, THEY CAN'T MAKE THIS KIND OF MONEY ANYWHERE ELSE, THE OWNERS ARE IN A POSITION THEY CAN WAIT THEM OUT. THAT IS THE REAL HURDLE THE PLAYERS HAVE, THEY OWNERS CAN CONTINUE THIS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR, THE PLAYERS CAN NOT !

PLUS THE PLAYERS ARE WHAT IS CALLED A VANISHING JOB LIFE ... PLAYERS HAVE A LIMITED LIFETIME AS AN ATHLETE, USUALLY 5-10 YEARS ON AVERAGE, IF 1 YEAR GOES AWAY THAT IS AS MUCH AS 20% OF THEIR INCOME EARNING FOR A LIFETIME. THAT IS A HUGE AMOUNT TO GIVE UP.

THE PLAYERS WILL CAVE IN BY NOVEMBER 16TH. THAT IS GOING TO BE THE 2ND CHECK THEY MISS, AND THAT IS WHEN THE PLAYERS WILL START GRUMBLING. LOOK FOR THE SETTLEMENT BY THEN AND PLAY TO START DECEMBER 1ST OR CLOSE.

Oakland Athletics

Recently C.J. Wilson made comments about how terrible Oakland Coliseum is for baseball, and how terrible the fans are. He actually used an athlete's vocabulary by using the word "suck" instead of terrible. Unfortunately what he is expressing is a common belief of most major league players.

Many players discuss the Athletics franchise as one where a player goes to retire. The franchise shows no loyalty to it's players, as players are traded as soon as they get to the prime of their career, (Eric Chavez excluded) and they have a GM that trades them as if they were baseball cards and not individuals.

The running joke within ballplayers in Major League Baseball is , "if you get traded to or sign with Oakland, rent a house - don't buy a house, you won't be there very long".

This is all getting very old for Athletic fans, which are turning to other Northern California events to spend their entertainment dollar on. It is hard to find a crowd over 20k in Oakland without a giveaway of some sort or a fireworks show.

Plus you have an owner that seemingly is more interested in the building of a new stadium outside Oakland with an emphasis on retail space, then the quality of the product on the field.

MLB executive offices have yet to determine if the Athletics can move to San Jose or Santa Clara due to territory rights of the San Francisco Giants. MLB just refuses to answer the question, not a yes and not a no. Obviously, considering the idiotic commissioner of baseball, that seems par for the course.

So there seems to be many issues with the Oakland Athletics and it seems at it will take a new stadium, a move, a new owner, and definitely a new General Manager. Moneyball has died, it's so old they are even making a movie about it, but unfortunately the GM and the Owner don't realize it is dead, but soon they will when the attendance dips below 10k a game.

Y SPORTS GAMBLING WILL NEVER BE LEGAL

I one time had a dream and desire that online sports gambling would be legal in the USA. Unfortunately, I am convinced that this will never happen here. It won't happen because of GREED. I don't believe the 3 major sports in the USA will allow online sports gambling without getting a cut of the action. The 3 major sports have extremely deep pockets and can buy politicians for a long time to make sure they get a cut. So I think , if you want to do what YOU want with YOUR money, YOU will have to go to another country to do it.

NFL IS MODERN DAY SLAVERY ?

How can anyone making millions of dollars for working 16 weeks a year make a comparison to the time of slavery ?
I don't believe reading where slaves had the option to work for someone else if they did not want to work in a certain profession, I also don't remember reading that Slaves worked 16 weeks a year and could do anything else they wanted the other remaining 36 weeks, I also don't remember reading that Slaves made 10 times what their owners made !!!!!!!!

KINGS ARE THE WORST TEAM IN THE NBA

Not only are the players horrible, but I think they have the worst coach in all of basketball.
The recent melt down ?
They are leading by 16 against the Warriors starting the 4th Quarter, and lose in Overtime.
That is not the worst of it.
They were leading by 5 with 18 seconds left in the game... They fouled the Warriors taking a 3, then on a missed free throw they foul another person taking a 3. Then what do they do for an encore ? With 3 seconds left and up by 4 they foul a Warrior taking a 2... He makes one and misses the 2nd on purpose , the Kings can't get the rebound, and the Warriors with no timeouts left MAKE a 3 and send the game to overtime...
Westphal the coach did nothing to help any of this.... He will not make it to the All Star Game , he will be fired anyday.
How are the Kings favored over anyone ? Just Horrible !!!

HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN ?

Doesn't it just amaze you , when things like this weekend happen ?

The Jets can't score at all, they go into a snowy Pittsburgh and win the game ?
Win the Game ! The last time the Jets scored was Thanksgiving and they win the Game... How does that happen.

Then the Packers without their starting QB and scoring 3 points against Detroit the previous week, they almost beat the Patriots in New England !!!

The Lions have a 26 game road losing streak....and they find a way to beat a Tampa Bay ...

That's why you have to love sports... Anything can happen and it usually does.

That's why tonite nobody gives the Vikings a chance but I think it's a funny game and the Vikings may win.

BAD QB'S IN THE NFL

At some point the NFL is going to have to start a development league or a minor league of sorts. Having college football be there minor league is not going to work much longer.

Watching these weekend games, let me tell you how bad it was... all the following teams don't have Quarterbacks that should be NFL starting QB's.

Lions
Bengals
Panthers
Bengals
Seahawks
Cardinals
Dolphins
Broncos
Chiefs

So 1/3 of the League does not have a qualified NFL Quarterback. That is horrible !!

NFL WEATHER CONDITIONS -

This is a factor that a lot of people don't pay much attention to, but it is definetly a consideration.
I especially think it means a lot for a dome team playing in bad weather. Not just because they are not used to, and they don't practice for it....but because the other team plays in that type of weather atleast 3 or 4 times a year, and the dome team may only play in that type of weather 1 or 2 times in 3 years. That is the key, frequency of playing in bad weather.

Wind more then anything effects a game, rain, snow effect it also but nothing like wind. It can almost shut down a passing team.

So always consider weather - not just bad weather but good weather also, not all teams play well in hot weather.

CONSOLIDATE THE NBA

There are NBA teams that just don't belong.
Cavs, Raptors, Kings, Warriors, Wizards, & maybe even the Suns.
( I am shoked I did not list the Clippers also, but Blake Griffin alone may save that franchise)

These teams belong in the D league. Yes they all have some players that are NBA stars, but overall these are teams that cannot compete on a day to day basis,and they just don't belong.

Just think if some of these teams better players were sprinkled into some of the other teams in the league. You would have competitive games every night and actually would have a quality product.

Watching these lower teams play the high caliber teams in the league is like watching a bull fight , there are times you think the bull is going to win, but then you realize - NOPE! They are going to get killed and they do.
Hey, the collective bargaining is not going well.... I say scrap the current plan and start over.

XMAS FOR GAMBLERS

Yup, most people don't know it but Opening weekend of the NFL season is the most anticipated day for Sports Gamblers. They have been handicapping this weekend for months. (lines came out late July). For the next 5 months you will see gamblers, handicappers and normal business guys grinding on their computers and newspapers trying to get an edge so they can profit against their bookies. Most will lose overall but a few brave ones, will win. Estimates say less then 5% of all sports gamblers will win. I would wager that is accurate and the percentage is even lower than that. Why you ask ? The most common mistake is gamblers bet too many games. If I was teaching sports gambling 101, the #1 rule would be limit your wagers ! The most succesful gambler I have personally ever seen makes 1 wager a week. That is it - 1 play. He treats it like a business he is in it to make a certain amount of money each week, if he wins that game - he collects his profit , doesn't try to double it , doesn't get greedy. Takes his win and walks away.

WHY NOT VINCE YOUNG ?

I don't understand why the Titans don't go to Vince Young as a starter now ? They are 0-3, they are getting beat badly every week. Kerry Collins is a veteran that is not part of the Titans future. Let Vince get in there and learn on the job. Either that or trade him and let him go somewhere else where he can play.

Quarterback play in general in the NFL is horrible.... other then the top names in the NFL everything else is terrible... Raiders, Redskins, Buccaneers, Panthers, Browns, Seahawks, Bills, Dolphins - all these teams don't have quality quarterbacks and could use help in a bad way....

BAD BEATS IN SPORTS !!!!!!!

If the terminology "BAD BEAT" does not register with you, then you are probably not a sports gambler... and this blog will not have as much meaning as it does for others that read this.

We all have had Bad Beats that happened years ago that we still can't forget. They stay in our memory bank forever it seems. I wish the incredible wins would stay that fresh in my mind as well.

Watching the Steelers lose on Sunday and go from a fabulous winner to an incredibly bitter loss reminded me of some horrible beats in my past.

My number 1, worst beat and I still can't watch the highlight even today and this is over 20 plus years ago. Gibson hitting the 2 run homer against my beloved A's. I remember where I was, I remember what I was drinking, who I was with, everything.... most sickening feeling of my life. It was triple the pain , because I rooted for the A's since I was a child, I bet the A's in that game, and I bet a fortune on the A's to win the series. The second Gibson hit the ball, all three things vanished....... At that point the series was over, the A's had no chance to recover. Brutal , just brutal.

To this moment when some station starts showing "great moments", I turn the channel, I cannot watch it to this date. I have made thousands of bets since that date, but that bad beat will never be topped..

Old athletes just don't know when to retire. This becomes more obvious with more television I watch during football season.

Lou Holtz is he even all there ? He can't remember names, he can't finish a sentence without some help from his partners. Why don't they get him off TV?

Bob Griese obviously all the hits from the years are showing up. I was wondering why he went from #1 abc sports color guy to now doing an ESPN game at 9 am. But it is obvious , he has simply lost it, he is not sure about college football rules, unsure of names of players, and tries to talk hip every now and then and sounds like an idiot.

Mike Ditka - Come on !!! ESPN should be arrested for senior abuse for allowing him to still be on TV. He has completely lost it, he babbles and has no idea what he is saying.

I really think that ex athletes and coaches really are drinking the Kool Aid for too long. They have had too many people tell them are terrific for too long. I think it is time, for people to step up and tell these guys , hey it is time to hang it up.

As much as I love ESPN - they are the main problem in broadcasting. Suggesting that ex athletes are the only ones that can comment on a particular sport. They have set broadcasting back 20 years.

EARLY NFL SEASON

The key to early season nfl wagering is to look at stability. How many key starters are back for the team, if there is an offense or defense coach change , and if there is a new head coach. Teams that have stability generally do better in the early part of the season.

Give you an example - the Patriots have lost 4 key defense starters and Tom Brady who did not play last year is starting for the team. The Patriots will run into some early season problems, with missed coverages, and blown plays. But around week 4 or 5 they should be clicking on all cylinders and be playing like the old Patriots.

Look for these subtle early season opportunities and capitalize on over priced teams.

Are you kidding me ? Has the nfl commissioner lost his mind ? Vick has lost 2 years and paid a heavy price for the mistakes he has made. Now Goodell is going to suspend him another 4 games ! That is absolutely terrible.

Before PETA bans my site, I love animals especially dogs and understand the horrible things Vick was involved in. However, enough is enough. He is done with the punishment phase - let's move forward and give this man a chance.

We have and the NFL has given 2nd 3rd & 4th chances to many worst people other than Michael Vick. There are thugs in the NFL I would not let my children or sisters ever get near. Yet they are allowed to play and earn a living , yet Vick is not.

DISGUSTING - Mr. Goodell you are wrong in this matter. You want to continue to punish someone for their mistake ban Pacman Jones forever.

THIS IS A STRANGE TIME OF YEAR, WITH THE ALL STAR BREAK APPROACHING SOME OF THE TOP PLAYERS REALLY START STINKING. ALSO YOU WILL SEE THE MIDDLE RELIEF GUYS BEING OVERWORKED WITHOUT A DAY OFF AND THEY WILL START STRUGGLING. YOU MAY EVEN SEE SOME OF THE TOP CLOSERS STRUGGLE A LITTLE BIT.

THAT IS WHY IT IS GOOD TIME TO START TAKING SOME OF THE UNDERDOGS. RECENTLY I SAW THE YANKEES FAVORED 340 - THAT IS RIDICULOUS ! NO ONE IS WORTH 3 1/2 TO 1.

NBA FINALS - WHICH LAKERS SHOW UP ?

I can't remember going into a NBA finals and wondering if some players would show up. There are so many questions about the lakers. Will Odom play to his ability ? Will Gasol get enough touches ? Will the Lakers open up the series with intesity ? Lots and lots of questions and the simple answer is KOBE !
I get the feeling that he can will his team to a victory and the Lakers to a Championship.

BUT - the Magic have beaten everybody - the Celtics (I know without KG), then the KING (they might not have been that good, but they could have easily swept them).

I think the Magic are a team, and playing like a team. Therefore I take the Magic team to upset the Lakers in 6 games.

NBA SEMI FINALS

And down the stretch they come. (I always love saying that!) Interesting matchups in the East & West.

East - Lebron and the Cavs look great, but who have they really beat ? Orlando on the other hand got through a tough Philly team and should have easily taken care of Boston if it was not for some 4th quarter melt downs. Plus you have to give them credit for winning a game 7 on the road and especially in the GAAARRRDEN. I think this is a 6 or 7 game series with the King coming through down the stretch. At the end of a game, you know he is going to shoot the ball, he knows he is going to shoot it, the world knows he is going to shoot it, but you can't do a damn thing about it.

West - Lakers think they can turn it on and off anytime they want. Does not work that way! Nuggets on the other hand, very solid. Plus with Billups they are a much smarter and better team. This nickname is for real - Big Shot! He is clutch. I originally wanted Kobe to win the championship but this on and off crap has gotten to me. So I am hoping for the nuggets. I think they win 6 games.

MAY BASEBALL

Ok now that April baseball is over things, will calm down a little. Closers will get into their groves and start closing games like they should. As you have seen in April they were horrible , even the great Yankee closer Rivera was horrible.
You saw games in April tied 1-1 after 7 innings end up 8-7, because of the horrible bullpens and closers.
Now you can start actually playing some games to go under. There will be some good opportunities coming out of April where most games went over the total.
Start looking at quality starting pitchers and picking your spots to go under. For the next few months pitcher duels will actually happen.
Lastly if a quality pitcher is struggling and has not put together 2 or 3 good starts in a row. Go against him, this could be an off year for that particular pitcher. Don't assume he is going to be his old self, make him prove it to you.

Baseball in May and June how it should be.

NBA PLAYOFF WAGERING

After playing for the past 6 months the NBA starts it's playoff's this weekend. The chances are your favorite team is playing in them, because more make it then don't in the NBA. There are some good opportunities in Series wagering for you to make easy money. Unlike in a single game, where anyone can win. In a 7 game series , generally speaking the quality will prove itself and the better teams will move forwad. This is the only time of year, where I actually lay big odds on favorites. Example - due to the injury to Garnett the Celtics odds on the series against the Bulls will be drastically reduced. Why ? Because the average player thinks without KG the Celtics cannot win the series and the Bulls have a chance. WRONG - the Bulls don't have a chance, they will probably make some of the games closer but they will simply lose this series.

Look at the series wagers as a short term stock investment. Some may treat you better then the stocks that have killed you for the last 2 years.

SPORTS GAMBLING

How do guys make money at this ? Does anyone win ? Are there guys that win consistently ?
The answers are hardwork & discipline, yes, & yes.
But................ These are the extremes, maybe 3-5% of all sports gamblers make money. The rest lose year after year. There are many reasons why and I will go over each below.
If your asking how I know - I use to be one of the losers for years, until I learned how to win.

1. Some guys look at the paper look at the spread of a game and then decide which team to put their hard money on. bye bye money - never looking at the injury list, past history, certain travel situations - zilch I like Lebron , I'm going with the CAVS. Bookies love these guys.

2. Money management - You can't bet your entire bankroll on one game ! The most I usually bet on my best game of the day is 10% of my bankroll. That is it. Nope not even on the lock of the century. Some guys will take a shot on their big game and sometimes it will win, but when it loses they are done, no way to comeback, no outs as they say. You always have to leave yourself an out. Always - leave yourself room for a comeback.

3. Chasing- If you are losing -don't double your bets. Cut them in half, that way you are only losing half as much as you normally would. You will start winning again and when you do then go back to your normal bet. NEVER EVER CHASE- AND NEVER EVER CHASE A BAD TEAM. Please don't tell me a team is due - that kills me ! The Washington Nationals are not due , they are a horrible team and will lose for a long time. Don't try to pick when they will win, instead continue to play against them until they prove to you they can win. The only thing that they proven so far is that they can lose and give up a ton of runs, and score some. So why try to figure out when they are going to win. Keep losing Nationals, I am with you.

4. TV factor - It's on TV I have to play it. Really ? If you watch the game will that help your team ? I don't have to watch the game to enjoy winning money. I enjoy winning money without watching it. As long as I win, I am happy. Now I agree watching games helps you analyze teams, players, coaches to lern tendecies. But otherwise no need to bet the game just because it is on TV.

APRIL BASEBALL WAGERING

Early season is completely different than later in the year. Relievers struggle big time, you will see the best closers blow saves. They are just not in sync. It's cold, they are not sharp. It somehow always work that way. Also for that reason most of the games go OVER the total. You will see games in the double digits in early April. The relievers are struggling and no one takes the starters late into the game. Also, do not take big favorites in April, it simply does not pay off, wager on DOGS and games that are pick em's. Every team has hope early, and they don't know they are horrible until June, when they realize they stink. Good luck and leave the big favorites alone !

FINAL FOUR

After a fabulous tournament through the sweet 16. The tournament became a little boring over the weekend. The Big Surprise has to be Michigan State pounding Louisville that was simply astonishing. I take it back Izzo must be a fabulous coach. Anyone watching the game realized that Louisville was just outsmarted, Louisville had absolutely no idea what to do. They could have and should have lost this game by 30 points or greater. Pitino was so convinced he had the better athletes he never even tried zone to slow down Michigan State. Pitino lost this game for Louisville ! Izzo A+ - Pitino F

Predictions: I hate to take the obvious but it is very hard to go against UCONN or UNC . Both of those teams should easily move to the Championship game. Though it will be interesting to see if Uconn's center will chase the Michigan State center all the way out to the 3 point area, where he made 4 or 5 three pointers. That could open the middle up for the Michigan State guards. But I am sure of this that Uconn coaching staff will not be as stuborn and ignorant as Pitino.

I don't see how UNC can be stopped Ty Lawson is playing fabulous and this is all with an injured Toe, we should all injure our Toe this badly. Fabulous play and a great supporting cast, they just have not been challenged in the tournament and I look for that to continue.

SWEET 16

Now we are down to the sweet 16 in the NCAA Tourney. Other than Wake Forrest exiting in the first round most of our predictions were fairly accurate.

SURPRISE = Uconn has surprised me so far, I did not expect for them to blow everyone out they way they are. They are playing exceptionally well at this time.

12 out of 16 = We have correctly predicted 12 of the 16 finalists. We also have 3 of 4 Final Four teams still in the running.

Bold Predictions = We still like Missouri to come out of their bracket. We still think UNC will stumble and it will be Pittsburgh and Missouri playing for the Championship.

So here we are , everyone trying to figure out the upsets, the cinderella, the games you can't miss and the teams that cannot lose. You can guess what who and how all you want. But this is how we see it.

Our Final Four = Wake Forrest - Missouri - Pittsburgh - Oklohoma

Our Prediction for the Final Game = Pittsburgh vs. Missouri

Our Winner = Pittsburgh

PITT BRACKET
We have seen enough of Pittsbugh to realize they just don't have many very bad days. We think they have to just get by Tennessee in round 2 and they are home free. Duke, Villanova , UCLA all are jokes. Duke being the biggest fraud of the bunch. If they were not Duke they don't even get a 2 seed and are probably a 6 seed.

LOUISVILLE BRACKET
We think Louisville will stumble against Wake. We are picking Jeff Teague as the Player of the tournament. Might be the best jumper in the NCAA. We also are not predicting for Big 10 teams to do well in the tournament. We think Wake cruises into the Final 4 after taking care of Louisville.

CONNECTICUT BRACKET
Again we think Missouri is playing great. They run the same type of offense and defense that Memphis does but they have better players and they will run Memphis off the floor. Memphis played nobody this year and their overrated as a 2 Seed. Uconn will stumble early with A&M and will be sent packing. Utah State is also a sleeper in this bracket, they play great defense but I just don't know if they can score enough to win. We also predict 12 seed Northern Iowa to send Purdue home early.

NORTH CAROLINA BRACKET
Ankle injury too much for UNC to overcome. They will try to steal minutes, but someone will get a run in on them and oust them. Oklohoma may just have to get by red hot Syracuse and go far in this tournament. Blake Griffin is fantastic the best player in College Basketball and should be the 1st player taken in the NBA. Uses both hands equally well, and that is a lost art in basketball today. Also another 12 beating 5 upset Western Kentucky sends Illinois home.

You can tell I am picking on the BIG 10 , just not convinced they are good enough to do anything.

March Madness

Everyone is getting ready for the Tourney. There are lots of debates about Arizona, Maryland, St. Mary's, Creighton. The first two got in the second two don't. Here are my thoughts, Arizona and Maryland have no business in the Tourney. They both got there because they play in Big Time Conferences. Arizona has not won away from home in forever plus lose 5 of their last 6, Maryland gets a couple lucky wins against the top two in the conference and all of a sudden is invited to the tournament. All BS. Not that any of these 4 teams has any chance of winning the tourney, but it is just unfair to the small conferences that they don't get to play on the same floor as the other guys. Though I have always thought they should make the tournament smaller and make it a double elimination tournament, I realize that can never happen. So instead they should play one extra day and let a 128 teams into the tournament so we don't have this unfair scenario.
Until then we will have to live with this BS along with the horrible BCS.

Sports Handicapping

The key to making money in sports gambling is money management. You can be on the hottest streak and if you don't have money management skills you can't make money in the long run. Sports handicappers just like everyone go on streaks, hot streaks & cold streaks, and then most of the time they go through up & down times. It is essential though to use a reliable service, simply because a respectable service has more information than you do. Yes even with the internet they know more than you do. The average gambler looks at the odds for about an hour and decides what to pick. Our company Big Kahuna Sports are handicapping almost a week ahead, waiting for certain situations to come up. And when the right situation comes up , like it did last Sunday with Washington vs. Stanford we pounce on it.

Other advise - don't bet a game because it is on TV and you want to have action on it. For gosh sakes you earned the money the hard way. Spend it wisely.

A Rod Corruption- Baseball BS

This is incredible. A Rod wants us to believe that because it was too hot he had to take streoids !
Are you kidding me ? Also how does this always become the columnist or sportwriters problem ?
You took the steroids , you benefited from the drugs, you lied to your owner and teammates. At some point you Alex Rodriguez have to claim you are a greedy , selfish bastard. You didn't care about baseball , the Rangers, the Yankees, and all of us baseball fans. Screw Alex and screw all these other idiots that took these drugs to improve their stats, and get these ridiculous contracts. And screw Major League Baseball this whole notion that they did not know what was going on is another story that is bull shit. They knew what was happening and they knew they were making a fortune from it and they were not going to stop the money train. How stupid do they think we are. I am tired of the lying of it all sides, just everyone tell the truth and let's move on with the greatest sport in the world. As keepers of this sport you all have screwed the pooch !
